“It is amazing to reflect on when I started OTM in 2023 and see how far it has come in such a short time. To see all the positive impact we can have in the lives of those living with disabilities is incredible to see and be a part of. This would not be possible without the magnificent team members that continue to underpin it and uphold the our values”

Joanne McMillan

Founding Director - Allied Health Assistant & Support Worker

A smiling woman in a navy polo shirt standing next to a brown and white horse in a fenced grassy area with trees and a blue sky in the background.

“Hey, I’m Jo.

I am very enthusiastic, passionate and understanding when it comes to supporting my participants. If they tell me to jump, I tend to say “how high?” I truly want the very best for all my participants and I do this by understanding them and their needs so that we can achieve their goals and they can live their lives to their full potential.

Prior to starting OTM, I worked as an Allied Health Assistant (AHA) for 14 years while continuing to complete multiple Certificate IV’s in Occupational Therapy, Physiotherapy, Speech Therapy, Community Rehab and Disability and Support. I also have children and relatives with various degrees of disability which has been fundamental in the development of my skills and approach when caring and supporting individuals living with disability, especially children.

In starting OTM, my only regret is not having done it sooner. It was a daunting thought to step out of my comfort zone but it has been a life-changing experience and I am grateful for the opportunity to have a positive impact in the lives of people living with disabilities while also connecting with other like minded people who share my passion”

Neri Cain

Administration Officer

“Hi, my name is Nerida, but I love to be called Neri.

I have over 20 years' experience as an Administrator, working in both large and small companies. I have experience in many different sectors, which has certainly grown my ability to adapt quickly to new environments.

I am an upbeat, positive and fun person with a great sense of humour, and I can create some laughs out of any situation. I enjoy seeing people happy and sharing a laugh with them. If I can make someone's day by sharing my sincere compassion, assisting them to meet their outcomes, or simply making their day seem a little brighter, then I go home each night feeling my cup is full.

Out of work, I have a teenage son whom I love and adore - being a mother has been my greatest gift. I also have two dogs, Coco and Simba, who I adore as well. I love the outdoors, the country, bush walks, but my most favourite thing to do is visit my favourite beach in Port Stephen’s and go swimming or walking. “

Jane Stubbe

Allied Health Physiotherapist

A smiling woman in a red shirt, wearing a necklace and earrings, sitting outdoors near a window, with a blurred background.

“Hey, I’m Jane.

I’m a Physiotherapist with many years experience assisting patients recovering from injury or pain! During my career I have assisted patients with conditions ranging from acute back and sports injuries to more serious stroke and spinal cord injuries!

In more recent years, I have been exposed to and gradually my involvement with individuals who are living with a disability has become my priority and focus.

I am very empathetic and enthusiastic! Which allows me to connect with and understand my participants. I am then able to get the best out of them by encouraging them to stay motivated and focused on recovery / rehabilitation for the short-term and while also improving their own quality of life for the long-term.”

Catherine Teszke

Support Worker

A woman smiling outdoors sitting in grass with a tan French Bulldog that is licking her face.

“Hey, I’m Cath.

I’m a proud mother of two amazing young adults with ASD, and my family’s experiences with various disabilities have shaped my life in profound ways.

I have grown up with animals and the outdoors, particular horses which include memories I hold dear and will cherish forever. I now share my home with a dog and two cats that fill both my family’s and my days with joy.

With a background in retail and retail management, I’ve had the opportunity to connect with many people, but it wasn’t until I transitioned into support work that I truly found my passion. My only regret is that I wish I had made this career change sooner, as I absolutely love helping others while developing meaningful connections with our participants and supporting them in living their best lives. Which I am truly grateful to be able to pursue this passion every day.”

Jessica Hardy

Support Worker

A woman in a summer dress and sunglasses standing outdoors in a garden with lush green foliage.

“Hey, I’m Jess.

I’m a proud mum of four wonderful kids and a dog-mum to Missi, our energetic short-haired Border Collie. Therefore, of course I am family-oriented, kind, generous and always ready to lend a hand. I believe in leading with the heart and helping others whenever I can.

I thrive being anywhere near the water. Whether it’s camping, fishing, or just soaking in the calm. I cherish the moments with my family the most whether it be a games night, outdoor activities or simply sharing a laugh together.

I’m passionate about supporting others which started with stepping up to coach my daughters netball team. This allowed me to be a role model for these girls, encouraging teamwork, confidence and to have fun.

In my downtime, you’ll find me curled up with a good book or diving into true crime podcasts and documentaries.”

Hudson Chomiszak

Support Worker

A man in casual clothing standing barefoot on a sandy beach, with a body of water and a boat in the background, during cloudy weather.

“Hello, I’m Hudson.

I have a passion for golfing, gaming, hitting the gym, football, cooking (especially when there’s a solid recipe to follow), and both go-karting and sim racing. Whether it’s the calm focus of a golf swing, the adrenaline of a tight football match, the grind of a heavy lift, the thrill of high-speed laps in a kart, or the satisfaction of nailing a recipe just right, I’m all about staying positive and making the most of every moment.

I transitioned to the support worker role after spending nearly a decade as a Locksmith, where I met and interacted with many different people to which I really enjoyed but felt it was time for a change.

Beyond my hobbies and career, I enjoy trying to provide a positive influence in people’s lives and helping them become the best version of themselves.”

Jasinee Pieper

Allied Health Assistant & Support Worker

A woman with long brown hair standing outside in a burnt orange dress and high heels, posing with her hands behind her back in front of a brick house decorated with Christmas decorations on a sunny day.

“Hey there! I'm Jasinee, most people just call me Jas.

I’m currently studying a Bachelor of Special Education at university while also working towards becoming an Allied Health Assistant (AHA).

My journey so far has been deeply rooted in caring for and connecting with others—especially young children. I’ve spent a lot of time tutoring and providing emotional support for kids as it’s something I truly love. There’s something incredibly rewarding about being a steady, compassionate presence in a child’s life and it's one of the main reasons I was drawn to the world of special education.

When I’m not working or studying, I love to lose myself in a book. Reading helps me broaden my understanding of the world and dive into different perspectives—it’s my favorite way to relax and reflect. On the flip side, I also love getting hands-on and creative in the kitchen or recharging by the ocean.”

Lauren Brown

Support Worker

A woman smiling and holding a decorated llama at an indoor event, with a blue sash that reads 'Sydney Royal Easter Show First Prize' draped over her shoulder.

“Hello, I’m Lauren.

I have a deep passion for animals, which began long before I became a veterinary nurse. My black German Shepherd, Login, is my world and a daily reminder of the unconditional love and loyalty animals offer. While I loved my time as a vet nurse, I discovered that my heart is just as committed to caring for people as it is for animals. I'm incredibly lucky now to do both, so much so that it doesn’t even feel like work.

I'm a kind, compassionate and generous person who would do anything for my family and friends. I thrive outdoors, love swimming  and feel most at peace when I'm surrounded by animals. For me, life is about connection, care and living with purpose and I'm grateful every day to be able to do what I love.”

Lee-Anne Taylor

“Hi! I’m Lee-Anne.

I enjoy spending time outdoors, whether that’s relaxing outside with my cats (who are convinced they’re royalty), taking invigorating walks, or sharing a delicious meal with my family. These moments help me recharge and remind me of what truly matters.

I’m a dedicated individual with a big heart and a passion for making meaningful connections. I believe that a little kindness and a genuine smile can go a long way, and I’m committed to making a positive difference in the lives of those I support.

I’m here to support with compassion, professionalism, and a little bit of laughter along the way and watch you achieve your goals.”

Lesley Wade

An elderly woman with glasses holding a tabby and white cat, kissing the cat on the cheek inside a home, with a dark wooden cabinet and framed wall art in the background.

Support Worker

“Hello, my name is Lesley.

My passion for community services and personal care stems from a deep sense of responsibility to empower and support individuals in need, an outlook shaped by both professional experiences and personal values.

With over four decades of experience in the corporate sector including roles in hospitality, events, sales and communications, I developed strong interpersonal and organisational skills. After returning to Australia following a 17-year career in Dubai, I felt drawn toward a more meaningful career shift. I sought a role where compassion, respect, and participant wellbeing were central, which led me to pursue a career in personal care work.

To support this transition, I enrolled in the Certificate III in Community Services at TAFE NSW, where I gained a solid foundation in the essential skills needed for this field. My goal is to make a positive impact on the lives of individuals who require a compassionate and dedicated approach, helping guide them toward a more hopeful and supported future.

Outside of work I enjoy reading, cooking, music and swimming. When relocating from Dubai, I also brought my two beloved Arabian Mau cats to Australia—who now happily occupy much of my spare time.”

Kelli Barrack

Support Worker

A woman smiling in sunglasses standing by a river with a Rottweiler dog on a leash, in a sunny outdoor setting with city skyline in the background.

“Hello, I’m Kelli.

I am a dedicated and compassionate person with experience assisting individuals with diverse needs. My goal is to always provide person-centered care while promoting independence and enhancing quality of life.

Over the years I have worked in various settings, including Schools for Specific Purposes (SSP) and support units that focused on supporting individuals with disabilities, learning difficulties and behavioural challenges. My approach is built on empathy and patience accompanied with strong communication skills ensuring those I support feel valued and empowered in their daily lives.”

Natalie Lucas

A woman with long brown hair and a nose piercing smiling while holding a large tabby cat on her lap, sitting on a green couch in a room with white walls and a door in the background.

Support Worker

“Hello I am Natalie,

My home is filled with love from my two senior rescue dogs, and I’m also an avid animal lover, with my sister’s rescue kitty, Henry, often making an appearance in my life. While I may not have kids, my fur babies definitely keep me busy!

I’m a big fan of road trips and exploring new places. I have a soft spot for food, despite my lack of cooking skills! My love for reading, particularly psychological thrillers, reflects my interest in mental health and human behavior.  I also enjoy dancing and going to the gym a few times a week, solo coffee dates and watching time fly by with Kmart's fantastic range of colouring books!

I am here to make a difference, and every day I am inspired by the resilience and strength of those I support.”

Nicole Gilbert

Support Worker

A woman with light skin, dark hair tied back, and wearing a black and teal shirt with a hearding earring, is smiling slightly, with a green and yellow pet bird with an orange beak perched on her shoulder, looking directly at the camera.

“Hey there, I’m Nicole.

I’m a mother of five spirited boys and one wonderful girl. I’ve learned that life is a beautiful whirlwind of responsibility and joy. While I've only been in the support industry for just under 4 years, a period marked by growth and compassion, I have lived experience with supporting my family overcome the challenges of living with disabilities and other medical conditions.

When I’m not immersed in work or family duties, I relish the time spent outdoors. Camping and taking short trips away with my kids, fishing being one of our main bonding activities where we can connect and joke by the water’s edge. More recently, I have taken up playing pool with friends, which has been a fun way to unwind and connect with others outside of family life.

Amidst all this, I’ve rekindled my passion for dressmaking. It’s a creative outlet I had neglected since school, but I’ve found joy in relearning those skills. It’s a reminder of the importance of nurturing my interests, even if time is limited.

Life as a working mom is undoubtedly busy, but it’s also incredibly rewarding. Each challenge I face shapes who I am, both personally and professionally. Here’s to embracing the chaos and finding joy in every moment!”

Kellie Jones

Support Worker

A woman smiling and holding a small dog in a garden filled with pink and green plants, with a building and hanging flower pots in the background.

“Hi, my name is Kellie.

I’m a proud mother of three young adults, all currently pursuing their university studies, and a devoted pet parent to my fur baby, who keeps me company at home.

For the past 16 years, I’ve been working in the disability support sector, a field I entered with my heart and stayed in because of the meaningful impact it has had on my life and the lives of others.

Over the years, I’ve had the privilege of working alongside individuals and their families in supporting them in navigating challenges, celebrating achievements while building inclusive and empowering environments. It’s a role that continues to teach me the value of patience, empathy and human connection every single day.

Outside of work, I enjoy spending quality time with my children. Whether we’re enjoying a concert together, finding the best local spots to shop, or simply catching up over coffee. My family means the world to me and I find joy in balancing a fulfilling career with a close-knit personal life.”

Alison Gallegos

Support Worker

Woman smiling and holding a fishing line with a small fish at the lakeside on a sunny day.

“Hi, I’m Alison.

I have a passion for making a positive impact on those around me. My background as a hairdresser for 30 years has equipped me with the skills to build meaningful relationships and address personal needs, allowing me to experience the joy of making others feel good about themselves. This rewarding journey led me to transition into support work, where I continue to find both personal and professional fulfillment, along with opportunities for growth and development.

Outside of work, I am a proud parent of three children, a girl and two boys. I’m a dog lover with two furry companions. I cherish spending time with family and friends, whether it’s enjoying outdoor activities like fishing and walking or engaging in fun board games, with Rummikub being my favorite. I love the thrill of packing up the van for travel adventures, creating lasting memories with my loved ones. Ultimately, my goal is to bring smiles to people's faces and make a positive difference in their lives.”

Leisa Greentree

A woman with long, blonde hair wearing sunglasses, a patterned purple dress, and brown boots, standing outdoors on a grassy area near a building with balconies. She is smiling and holding a brown bag.

Support Worker

“Hey, I'm Leisa.

I've come from a background in primary school and special needs teaching, where for 20 years I followed my dream to make a positive impact on the lives of children. Still with the love for children and teaching, I was in need of a change, so re-trained to become a disability support worker and I've fulfilled this role for nearly 3 years.

I am a proud mum to two beautiful young adults, who have both found success in their endeavours and a gorgeous cat called Cranky who is my home companion. I enjoy the simple things in life and find great pleasure in helping others. I spend most of my time, when not at work with my best friend and together we've had many adventures while sharing a love for gardening, music, woodwork and arts & crafts. I have always had a love for water, so growing up on Lake Macquarie was the perfect playground for water-skiing, swimming and fishing, all of which I do very rarely these days but a place I will always call home.”

Kelly Morrison

Support Worker

“Hey, my name is Kel

I am a mum of 4 beautiful children and have been a support worker for 9 years now and absolutely love it.

I chose this line of work after losing my best friend at the age of 21 to cancer, making a difference in people’s lives that are no longer able to do so on their own or just need a little extra help is what I enjoy the most about my job.

I enjoy camping, fishing, and on most days just hanging out at home with my husband, kids, cats and dogs.

On days that I am not working I also help my dad with looking after my mother as she once did for me.”

“Hey, I’m Monica.

I have been a support worker for over 15 years with an interest in spinal injuries. I’m passionate about helping people move, rebuild confidence and feel supported in their bodies again. With a strong background in dance and Pilates, I use my knowledge of movement, alignment and core strength to support physiotherapy programs and encourage safe and mindful rehabilitation.

I take a hands-on, compassionate approach, working closely with each person to understand their goals, challenges and abilities. I believe that thoughtful movement, patience and encouragement can make a real difference in recovery and day-to-day independence and am committed to supporting each client with care, respect, and genuine connection.

Outside of work I love spending time with my family, dogs and have recently learnt how to sew.”

Rebecca Knott

Support Worker

A smiling woman preparing food in a kitchen, stirring a yellow mixing bowl, with apples and eggs on a cutting board nearby.

“Hi, I’m Bec.

I’m a mum of two incredible (and occasionally wild) kids, and my greatest joy is spending as much time as I can with my family. Even if that means hiding in the pantry for a quiet snack now and then. I love cooking (especially meals that don’t get immediately rejected), arts and crafts (yes, I own all the glitter), and I have a huge soft spot for dogs.

One day, when life isn’t running on coffee and chaos, I’ll finally get my dream Cavoodle, because what’s better than a dog that looks like a cuddly stuffed toy?

By day (and sometimes night), I’ve worked in the disability industry for many years, and it’s a true passion of mine. I love helping others achieve their personal goals and supporting them to create a life they’re proud of. There’s nothing more rewarding than being part of someone’s journey toward independence and confidence.”

Sarah Jane

Support Worker

“Hey, I'm Sarah

I'm a proud mother of two kids. I love to go 4 wheel driving, going on long car trips, and spending time with my family.

Bronte Lane

Support Worker

A young woman with long blonde hair holding a blue beverage in a clear cup with ice, smiling outdoors surrounded by greenery.

“Hey, I’m Bronte.

I’m a hairdresser by trade but I really enjoy doing support work on the side as some of my happiest moments come from the balance of helping others and taking care of myself.

In my spare time, you’ll find me lounging at the beach and soaking up the sun or catching up with friends over ice-cold drinks. Whether it’s a spontaneous beach bonfire or a weekend camping trip under the stars, I love embracing the great outdoors and all its adventures.”

Melanie Pringle

Support Worker

“Hi my name is Melanie, but I prefer to be called Mels.

I am a proud mother of two amazing adult children and proud grandmother to one gorgeous granddaughter. I am also a dog mum to two very cheeky dogs.

I have always been in a carer's role. I am the oldest child of 5, and the oldest cousin, which meant I would constantly be in protector mode. I moved into support work after working in accounts, banking and book keeping. I found very little satisfaction in these roles as I needed to be around people in a more productive way.

That's when I turned to support work. It truly is my passion. I am definitely a people person. Being able to support adults and children in our community is by far one of my greatest achievements in my working life.

I thrive to build a healthy, strong bond with my clients where they can always feel safe, heard and successful. I find this is the foundation of a wonderful support worker/client team.

When I am not supporting my clients, I will be spending time with family and friends, going to movies and finding a nice restaurant or Cafe .I also enjoy (but am not necessarily good at) singing to 80s music. I love taking my dogs for walks and play dates at the dog park.”

Danielle Mayes

Support Worker

“Hi, I’m Danielle.

I have been working in the industry for over five years as both a Support Worker and Operations Manager. I currently divide my time between supporting Participants and assisting in the OTM office, which gives me a well-rounded perspective on both frontline support and operational coordination.

Before moving into this field, I owned and operated an event management business in the Hunter region, where I coordinated large-scale community events including Feast Fest, the Lake Macquarie Food & Wine Festival, and the Newcastle and Central Coast Chilli Festival. This experience strengthened my organisational skills, attention to detail, and ability to connect with people from all walks of life.

I enjoy supporting both children and adults and am passionate about building meaningful, positive relationships with the Participants I work with.

I also have a dog named Augie, who often accompanies me to Participants’ homes and into the office, bringing plenty of smiles along the way.

Outside of work, I love spending time with family and friends, camping, and going on holidays.”

Brendan Fitzgerald

Support Worker

Hi, I’m Brendan,

I guess I lead a busy life being the father of 3 teenage children, a husband and having a labradoodle in the house keeps us on our toes.

We moved from Sydney to the shores of Lake Macquarie 15 years ago. I spent several decades working in the film and television industry taking me to some amazing places all over the country. In my younger years I completed a carpentry apprenticeship and continued working in housing and construction until I got the travel bug which took me overseas to Africa and Europe.

Giving myself a new direction in life Care and Support work allows me to meet and assist people in my community.

Vanessa Hamilton

A woman in a safari outfit smiling and posing with an elephant in a jungle setting.

Allied Health Dietitian

“Hi, I’m Vanessa.

I spent my life surrounded by people living with or working within the Disability space, so I knew from an early age that I would proudly make a career in supporting people and advocating for their better health and wellness outcomes.

I own two cheeky cavoodles, Penny and Zelda, who keep life full of joy and cuddles. When I’m not working, you’ll often find me at CrossFit or outdoors staying active, coffee in hand and catching up with friends. I love to explore new places, whether that’s a weekend getaway or a big overseas adventure. I’m always up for trying something new.

For me, life is about balance: working hard, making time for the people (and pups) I love, and embracing every opportunity for fun and discovery.”

“Hey, my name is Leanne.

I'm a mum to five amazing (and very loud) kids, which means I basically have a PhD in multitasking and crisis management. My nursing journey has consisted have many different opportunities including working in community and home care, disability support, aged care facilities and agency work. If it involves care and compassion, I’ve probably done it.

When I'm not wrangling kids or participants, you’ll find me knee-deep in sudoku puzzles or obsessing over my new word search book (best Mother’s Day gift ever). Life’s a bit of beautiful chaos—and I wouldn’t have it any other way.”

Jennifer Cherry

A woman with short, reddish-brown hair standing outdoors near a river, holding a bundle of dried plant material, in front of a leafless tree with pinecones on its branches and a serene water background.

Support Worker

“Hi, I’m Jen,

Family is at the heart of my life. I’m a devoted parent to three wonderful children. Our home is also filled with love from our furry friends, four cats and a group of about 13 guinea pigs. I have a dream of adding a couple of sweet sheep to our family to help keep the lawn in check, and I’m looking forward to welcoming more chickens once I set up a cozy run for them.

I like to keep busy, so on the side I run my own floral business, Junipers Bower, where flowers bloom and creativity thrives! I love crafting and creating beautiful arrangements, even if it means making a delightful mess in the process. Nature is my inspiration, and I cherish every moment spent outdoors.”

Peanut

Therapy Support Dog

A puppy sitting on a patio chair, looking at the camera. The puppy has a black, brown, and white coat and is sitting at a table with a blue tablecloth. Behind it, there is a glass sliding door and a view of a backyard with brick houses.

“Heya, I'm Peanut!

I'm a busy working girl who thrives on spreading smiles and joy wherever I go. As a proud Corgalier, I’ve mastered the fine art of being both charming and lovable. Snacks are my ultimate weakness—I never say no to a treat (or two)! I’ve been known to indulge my curiosity by occasionally chewing on random objects... all in good fun, of course.

I absolutely adore kids—they bring out the best wiggles and tail wags in me! I also very much enjoy lending a paw and making sure everyone has a reason to smile. As a therapy dog superstar, I use my special skills to comfort, cheer up, and connect with everyone I meet.

When I'm off duty, I love hanging out with friends, chasing little creatures, and enjoying life’s simple pleasures. The best part of my world? My wonderful mum, Jo, who makes every day an adventure filled with love and laughter.

Life is pawsitively better with a little Peanut in it!”

Michael Wakeman

Financial Controller

A man, Michael Wakeman, in a suit standing against a large white wall, smiling with his hands in his pockets.

“Hello, I am Michael but everyone tends to call me Mikka.

Having worked as a support worker and lived experience with disability as I overcame a significant accident in my early teenage years which resulted in a prognosis of never walking again, I understand and can relate to the challenges of living with a disability and also have a much greater appreciation for making sure every day counts and always having a positive impact on those around me.

I am now an ultra endurance athlete and I am involved with multiple volunteer based agencies. I am also a chartered accountant with an extensive background in both the corporate and public accounting sectors predominantly around  investigation and communication of financial results outlining key drivers and implementing action plans in conjunction with understanding and improving business processes & controls”.
